Awake and Praise
Psalm 57:8

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” Psalm 57:8 NIV

Early in the morning before dawn breaks, David arouses himself from sleep. In that early hour David plays his musical instruments and lifts his voice to sing praises to God. It is important to David that every day, even days filled with trials and troubles, begins by praising God. It is also vital that believers begin their day praising God, spending time in prayer and Bible study. In the early morning hours, hearts and minds need to be focused on God and His Word. This devotional time prepares and strengthens David and all believers to face the challenges of the new day.

Lord Jesus, help me to awaken each morning, yearning to meet with You in prayer and Bible study. May I lift my voice to praise You in the morning and all day long.
