“Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise Thee.” Psalm 63:3 NASB

David is out in the wilderness running for his life. Yet he declares that God’s steadfast love is more desirable that life itself. The Hebrew word translated lovingkindness is rich in meaning, carrying the idea of strength, steadfastness, love, mercy, grace, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and devotion all conveyed in one word. God’s lovingkindness never changes regardless of the circumstances in which we may find ourselves. It is God’s faithful love, mercy, and grace that sustain and carry us through difficult times. When we understand God’s love for us, we then must voice our praise to Him.

Lord Jesus, how great is Your love for me that sustains me even through tough times. I want to lift my voice and praise You, for You are worthy of all glory and honor.
