“Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my groaning. Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to Thee do I pray.” Psalm 5:1-2 NASB

This psalm is a prayer to be said or sung at the early morning sacrifice. At the dawning of a new day, and a new year, it is good to pray and seek God and His directions for the day ahead. Notice the urgency and depth of the plea in this verse with the words “give ear” or listen, “consider,” and “heed.” The psalmist is “groaning” and crying for help. The psalmist is pleading with his King and his God. He has a personal relationship with the Almighty King.

Lord Jesus, You are “my King and my God.” I am grateful for the time we spend each morning in prayer and Bible study that guides my day.
