“How long, exalted ones, will my honor be insulted? How long will you love what is worthless and pursue a lie? Selah” Psalm 4:2 CSB
David rebukes his adversaries, those powerful and prominent men who sought to destroy his reputation, his good name, and his legacy. These adversaries had turned away from God and pursued worthless lies. Their lies and rebellion were causing others to be led astray from doing what was right and from following God. David chastises them for their evil deeds and motives and urges them to repent and return to the Lord.
Lord Jesus, it is so easy to become distracted and disillusioned by the falsehoods and vain things of this world. Help me instead to keep my life focused on following You and doing what is right.
