“Do not remember the sins of my youth or my acts of rebellion; in keeping with Your faithful love, remember me because of Your goodness, LORD.” Psalm 25:7 HCSB

David pleads for God to pardon his sins and rebellious acts. God is just, holy, and righteous, while man is sinful and full of rebellion. Man can do nothing to earn God’s forgiveness. It is only through God’s mercy and grace that man’s sins can be forgiven. Because of His faithful and merciful love, God the Father provided the perfect sacrifice in Jesus the Son, who became the propitiation for our sins. This atonement for our sins was made by Jesus’ death on the cross.

Lord God, because of Your great love and mercy, my sins are forgiven by grace through faith in Jesus. I wholly trust in Your goodness and merciful lovingkindness.
