“For Your name's sake, O LORD, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.” Psalm 25:11 NASB

Having recognized God’s great character of love, mercy, and truth, David sees himself as a great sinner, filled with iniquity and wrongdoing. As Paul would later declare, our best actions are nothing but “rubbish” or “filthy rags” in comparison to God’s character and holiness. Acknowledging his wretchedness and wickedness, David pleads to God for forgiveness and pardon, based not on his worthiness but solely for God’s name sake, His reputation, honor, and glory.

Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner forgiven and cleansed by Your blood shed on Calvary. I am humbled and grateful that You would choose to pardon me of my great sin simply to bring glory and honor to Your name.
