“The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.” Psalm 19:8 NASB

David continues his description of God's Word by calling them the precepts, statutes, rules, or orders of the Lord. Following and obeying God’s Word guides one down the path of a righteous life that brings joy and true happiness to one’s heart and life. David next calls God’s Word the pure and holy commandments of the Lord that gives light to one’s eyes. In a dark and sinful world God’s Word illuminates the path, showing one how to live a righteous and pure life.

Lord Jesus, help me to learn and obey Your Word, the Bible. As I travel down the road of life, Your Word is the map that guides and directs my every step.
