“In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course.” Psalm 19:4b-5 NIV

In poetic fashion David uses the sun as an illustration that describes God’s glory, faithfulness, power, and might. Not only has God placed the sun in its specific dwelling place, its tent, in the heavens, but He consistently displays it every morning. The sunrise bursts forth in glorious radiance like a bridegroom leaving his chamber in anticipation of his wedding. With the tireless endurance of a strong champion runner, the sun runs its daily course across the sky.

Lord God, creation declares Your faithfulness and glory. As I look at the heavens I am amazed at Your power and might.
