“He reached down from heaven and took hold of me; He pulled me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too strong for me.” Psalm 18:16-17 HCSB

In great distress David cried out to God for help. David did not have the strength or power to win the battle against his enemies. He felt as if he was being drowned by his enemies. They were overpowering him and forcing him down into the deep waters. David’s only hope was God. In beautiful poetic fashion, David described how God reached down from heaven and took hold of him and rescued him.

Lord Jesus, I often feel overwhelmed and powerless against the struggles and trials of life whether they be circumstances or people. Reach down and rescue me, for it is only through Your strength and power that I can survive these days of tumult and distress.
