A Beautiful Heritage
Psalm 16:6

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.” Psalm 16:5-6 NASB

To David and the children of Israel, the most prized inheritance was the promise land where God would dwell and bless His people. God promised Abraham that his descendants would possess the land. With lines drawn by lot, Joshua divided the land between the tribes of Israel. Ultimately each family was given a portion of the promise land that would be passed on to the next generation as a cherished heritage of God’s presence, protection, and provision.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the heritage of previous generations who passed on Your beautiful Word. Help me to continue sharing with the next generation the glorious gospel of Your saving grace.
