Trust God, Not Yourself
Proverbs 3:5
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 NASB
We are to trust in God, not in ourselves. “Trust” means to place total confidence in, to have firm belief in, to commit to, to completely and totally rely on, and to act resulting from confidence placed in someone or something. Instead of trusting in God, we tend to trust our own understanding, to believe in our own abilities, to attempt to control our own lives, and to make our own decisions based on our own intelligence. This verse says that we are to trust God with all we have and all we are.
Lord Jesus, I yield control of my life over to You. Lead me, guide me, and use me for Your work and Your glory this day.
