“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7 HCSB
To “fear” the Lord is to have reverence, respect, and awe for the Lord God Almighty. This “fear” leads a person to worship the Lord and obediently follow His commands. A reverence for the Lord is the foundation for all knowledge and wisdom. A foolish person is one who does not “fear” God and thus does not listen to wisdom and teaching.
Lord Jesus, You are worthy of honor and glory, and I worship You. Teach me what I need to know about You and about how to obey Your commands.
