“Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:9-11 NIV
Jesus uses wonderful imagery to illustrate the principle that God gives good gifts to His children. If you had a hungry child, would you feed him, or would you substitute something that would fool or harm him? No, a reasonable and loving parent would feed the child good food. God the Father is a perfect parent who loves His children and gives good things to those who ask.
Lord God, I am confident that You will answer my prayers by giving what is best. I trust You for You are holy, righteous, loving, merciful, and gracious.
