“Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you” Matthew 7:1-2 NASB
This verse is often quoted out of context, creating a wrong interpretation and misunderstanding of what Jesus is teaching. Looking at the whole passage, this verse is not a prohibition against judging what is right or wrong. It is a warning that judging must be fair and just. The believer must use discernment, measured by righteousness, mercy, and grace. The one who judges must be judged in the same manner and by the same standard. All must be judged by God’s standard.
Lord Jesus, help me to judge my life by the standard set forth in Your Word. Help me to temper my judging of others by Your love, mercy, and grace.
