“But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:44-45 NASB
Why should the believer show love to all people including his enemies? He loves because the Father shows love and kindness to everyone. God graciously gives the sun and the rain to every person. God provides all that is necessary to sustain life both to those who do good and to those who do evil. By showing love and kindness to his enemies, the righteous believer shows that he is a child of God. The character of the Father should be seen in the character of His children.
Lord Jesus, help me to reflect Your love and kindness even to those who wrong me. Help me to grow more in Your likeness and character each day.
