“Reach a settlement quickly with your adversary while you’re on the way with him, or your adversary will hand you over to the judge, the judge to the officer, and you will be thrown into prison. I assure you: You will never get out of there until you have paid the last penny!” Matthew 5:25-26 HCSB
Jesus continues to illustrate how to deal with the attitude of anger by describing a person being taken to court. He states that a broken, damaged relationship must be dealt with quickly before it goes too far, before it reaches the courts, or before the damaged relationship is totally destroyed. The principle Jesus is teaching is that sin, including anger, must be resolved quickly before the full consequences of that sin are required at judgment.
Lord Jesus, I am thankful that my sin is cleansed and paid in full by Your blood shed on Calvary. Help me to live in a way that demonstrates forgiveness to others.
