“And the angel answered and said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.’” Matthew 28:5-6 NASB

Early on Sunday morning the women arrived at the tomb of Jesus. Already jittery and anxious because of the crucifixion, they were terrified by the earthquake and appearance of the angel. Having been commanded by the angel to look in the tomb and not be afraid, the women were amazed at what they saw. There was no body, for Jesus had risen from the dead. Jesus, who had died, had conquered death. The women were subsequently told to go and tell the others that Jesus had risen!

Lord Jesus, what an astonishing, incredible, and incomprehensible event occurred as You rose from the dead to live forevermore. Because of Your resurrection all who believe will have eternal life.
