The Veil That Separated Us
Matthew 27:50-51a

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Matthew 27:50-51a NASB

Jesus’ death on the cross was more than just a physical death. He freely shed his blood as the perfect atoning sacrifice for our sin. Our sin separated us from the Holy God just as the Temple veil separated sinful man from the Holy of Holies where God’s presence resided. When Jesus died for our sin, He provided the only way for us to come into the presence of the Holy Lord God, symbolized by God tearing the veil in two pieces from the top to the bottom. Jesus’ death opened up the thick veil and allows believers to enter God’s presence.

Lord Jesus, though once barred from Your presence and glory because of my sin, now I can boldly enter the throne room of God because of Your sacrifice on Calvary. You are my Savior and Redeemer.
