“And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.” Matthew 2:12 NASB

Having reacted to Jesus by expressing exceedingly great joy and by worshiping Him as the Savior and King, the Wise Men were eager to obey whatever God said. They heard the Word of God in a dream, warning them not to go back to Herod and Jerusalem. Obediently they went out of their way by traveling down a more difficult road to their homeland. Their obedience to God was risky for it clearly meant they had to disobey the powerful King Herod.

Lord Jesus, as I begin this new year help me to be attuned to Your Word, the Bible, and to Your guiding Holy Spirit. Wisely, may I joyously worship You and obediently follow Your Word each day.
