“After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11 NASB
When the Wise Men saw the baby Jesus, they bowed down and worshiped Him. Honoring the newborn King, they gave Him three gifts. Gold was often given to a king. Frankincense was the sweet smelling burnt offering given to worship God. Myrrh was used to embalm a body at death. These three gifts were symbolic for this baby. He was and is the King of kings who is the sovereign ruler. He was and is the eternal, almighty God worthy to be worshiped. He was and is the sacrificial Lamb who by His death on the cross redeemed all who would trust in Him.
Lord Jesus, You are my Savior, my King, and my God. During this Christmas season I bow before You in worship, remembering that You came to give Your life for me.
