“Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Matthew 9:37 NASB

Jesus is speaking not only to the twelve but to all who would be His disciples throughout the ages. A disciple is one who is a follower of Jesus and thus committed to obey His teachings. Looking at the multitudes, Jesus declared that the harvest is plentiful. Like golden grain ready for the harvest, there are many people who are like sheep without a shepherd. They are lost and need salvation. They are distressed and need compassion. Jesus also declared that the workers are few. Disciples are needed for the work of sharing the gospel and the love of Jesus with the lost and hurting multitudes.

Lord Jesus, as a disciple, I desire to obey Your Word. Help me to share Your love and the good news of salvation with those I meet today.
