“And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46-47 NIV
In what we call The Magnificat, Mary begins by praising the Lord. She glorifies, exalts, magnifies, and praises the Lord for who He is and for what He has done. Her whole being is filled with joy over God her Savior. Like the psalmist of old and believers of every generation, Mary lifts her voice to praise the Lord. As Mary rejoices over the coming birth of the Savior, we too must rejoice and praise the Lord for the salvation that He provides. We too must tell others of God’s gift of salvation through Jesus.
Lord God, in this season of the year, let me lift my voice to praise You. Let me rejoice because of Jesus, my Savior.
