“And Mary said, "Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.” Luke 1:38 NASB

Mary described herself as the “bondslave” of the Lord. This word has been translated a number of ways including servant, slave, maidservant, and handmaid. This lowest kind of slave was totally obedient to the master. A slave gave up all his rights, privileges, interests, and ambitions. His whole existence revolved around the master. Mary willingly gave herself totally to God to do with her as He willed. Many of the disciples including Paul described themselves as bondslaves. Likewise a believer is to give his all to God, being totally obedient to the Master.

Lord Jesus, I desire to give You my all. Teach me how to be obedient to all Your Word.
