“And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this for certain? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years."” Luke 1:18 NASB
Zacharias’ first reaction was to be troubled and fearful at the angel's appearance. His second reaction was one of uncertainty and confusion at the angel's message. The angel told him that he would have a son in his old age who would be the forerunner of Christ. As Zacharias wondered how this impossible thing could happen, he was confused and doubtful about God's message. This reaction is common when people hear the Word of God. While we do not understand it, and we cannot believe it could be true, yet God's Word is truth whether we understand and believe it or not.
Lord Jesus, I do believe and trust Your Word, the Bible, even when I don't understand it all. Help me to learn Your Word and to live by its truths.
