John 20:28
The Upward Look

“Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’” John 20:28 NASB
The words exclaimed by Thomas when he sees the Risen Christ form a confession, a commitment, a surrender of his total allegiance to Jesus. This declaration is more than just a mental acknowledgment that Jesus is the Lord God. Indeed Jesus is God the Son, the second person of the Holy Trinity, the Three in One. Jesus is also the Lord, the supreme master, ruler, and sovereign, who possesses absolute authority and power. In exclaiming that Jesus is “my Lord and my God,” Thomas is declaring his faith in Him, yielding his life in total obedience to Him.
Lord Jesus, I bow before You in faith, trusting only in You for my salvation, and in surrender of my life to follow You and to obey Your Word.
