“They took palm branches and went out to meet Him. They kept shouting: ‘Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord—the King of Israel!’” John 12:13 HCSB
As Jesus came into Jerusalem on the Sunday before He would be crucified on Friday, the crowd recognized His riding on a donkey as a king coming in peace. Waving palm branches, the symbol of praise for a national hero, the crowd shouted out their cries of praise about Jesus. Proclaiming “Hosanna” which means save us now, the people declared that Jesus was the Messiah who would bring peace. They wanted Jesus to save their nation from the Roman occupation, but Jesus came to save people from all nations from their sins.
Lord Jesus, I do praise You, my Savior, for saving me from my sins. I do honor You, my King, by loyal obedience to Your commands.
