“‘Do not be afraid of them, For I am with you to deliver you,’ declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 1:8 NASB

The comforting command “do not be afraid” is found numerous times in Scripture. Fear is a very common human emotion. The call to be God’s prophet filled Jeremiah with overwhelming anxiety, exhibited by his excuses of his inability to speak and of his young age. Yet God reassures Jeremiah with the assurance of His presence and deliverance as he obeys God. Instead of fear Jeremiah was to trust in God for protection and peace in the midst of struggles and for the boldness to speak God’s Word.

Lord Jesus, many times fear and uncertainty swell up within me. Calm my emotions with a peace that comes through an intimate daily walk with You.
