“But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!” Isaiah 43:1 NASB
In contrast to the previously prophesied destruction and judgment, God reminds Israel not to fear for He is their Creator and Redeemer. Years before God had made a covenant relationship with Israel when He redeemed them from bondage in Egypt. Now as Israel faces harsh judgment and exile, God encourages and comforts them by reminding them that they are His children, and He will sustain and protect them through these troubled times. Even now God continues to redeem and sustain His children.
Lord Jesus, I am thankful that You have redeemed me from my sin and have called me to be Yours. Even in the midst of troubled times, I am assured and comforted by Your faithful, sustaining power.
