“For on the first of the first month he began to go up from Babylon; and on the first of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, because the good hand of his God was upon him. For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.” Ezra 7:9-10 NASB
On the first day of the first month of the year, Ezra made a major adjustment in his life. Because of God’s great grace, he made the journey to Jerusalem. This life-changing experience also included a habit of reading, studying, and obeying God’s Word. Ezra made God’s Word a priority in his life. Ezra’s concern for other people led him to teach them God’s Word. The new year is a great time to begin something new, to live in God’s grace, to study the Bible, to put it into practice, and to lead others to follow its teachings.
Lord Jesus, I resolve to learn and obey Your Word. Help me to live by it and to help others to follow You.
