An Ambassador in Chains
Ephesians 6:20
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should.” Ephesians 6:20 CSB
An ambassador is the diplomatic representative of a foreign government or sovereign or the spokesperson for a specific group. Paul is an ambassador for King Jesus. He is in chains, in prison, under arrest, for representing the Lord Jesus by boldly preaching the gospel of Christ. He asks the Ephesians to pray for him, not for his release from imprisonment or his physical circumstances, but that he would boldly, fearlessly, and effectively speak the gospel even in his imprisonment.
Lord Jesus, give me strength and courage to be Your ambassador, to represent You in everything I do. May I boldly and effectively speak the gospel of Your mercy, grace, and love.
