A Profound Mystery
Ephesians 5:32
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.” Ephesians 5:32 NASB
Paul again intertwines the imagery of the unique relationship of a husband and wife becoming one flesh with the unique relationship of the church and Christ. It is a wonderfully profound mystery and truth that a husband and wife become one flesh. It is also a wonderfully profound mystery and truth that the church, those people who have been saved by God’s grace through their faith in Jesus, becomes the body of Christ and is made one with Christ.
Lord Jesus, I stand amazed at Your great love which propels Your grace and mercy to redeem me, a sinner made clean by Your blood and made righteous and holy in Christ.
