His Body
Ephesians 5:29-30

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.” Ephesians 5:29-30 ESV

Since a husband and wife form one body, the husband must love, provide, and care for her just as he cares for his own body. Again, the model for the husband’s love is Christ and His love for the church. Christ loves, provides, and cares for the church, for every member of the church, for every person who has committed his life to the Lord through faith in Christ. Every believer is a member of the body of Christ. Christ loves, nurtures, nourishes, protects, provides, and cherishes every believer.

Lord Jesus, help me to love and care for each and every believer because they are a special and important part of Your body, the church.
