Speak the Truth
Ephesians 4:25

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.” Ephesians 4:25 ESV

Paul begins to describe how this new life of holiness and righteousness is applied in a daily walk with Christ. First he notes that a believer is to stop lying and speak the truth. Lying is a characteristic of the old sinful nature and is prevalent and pervasive in society. Today’s culture is absorbed and consumed with lying, telling falsehoods and giving misleading and deceptive impressions. As a member of the body of Christ, the believer is to put away this old behavior and speak the truth to others.

Lord Jesus, let only what is true be uttered by my mouth. May my words be truthful and my life filled with integrity that brings glory and honor to You.
