Lay Aside
Ephesians 4:22

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,” Ephesians 4:22 NASB

A believer is to lay aside the old sinful lifestyle which is corrupted and decaying due to deceitful sinful passions. This process of laying aside the old ways starts at conversion, continues through life, and is finally complete when the believer is with Jesus in Heaven. While this laying aside of the old ways is incomplete and sometimes fickle, a believer must strive to remove old sinful actions and thoughts like removing dirty clothes and exchanging them for clean holy righteous deeds and thoughts.

Lord Jesus, help me to lay aside the old sinful ways, turning away and leaving them behind. Help me to live in new life with You, doing what is right and good.
