Suffering but Not Discouraged
Ephesians 3:13

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“So then I ask you not to be discouraged over my afflictions on your behalf, for they are your glory.” Ephesians 3:13 HCSB

Paul was suffering in a Roman prison because he had preached the gospel to the Gentiles. Even though he was doing God’s will, he was persecuted, imprisoned, and greatly afflicted because he shared Christ with others. The Ephesian believers could have reacted to Paul’s tribulation by becoming distressed and discouraged, causing them to lose heart and fortitude in following Christ. In the midst of adversity, Paul exhorted and encouraged the believers to hold strong to their faith in Christ.

Lord Jesus, help me to stay strong in the faith even when I must suffer for standing for Your Word. In the good times and the hard times, my goal, my one desire, is to serve and praise You.
