The Cornerstone and Foundation
Ephesians 2:20

“built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone.” Ephesians 2:20 HCSB

Paul uses the imagery of a building, a great temple, to describe the relationship of the believers and the church. A cornerstone binds a building together, giving it a solid foundation and setting the standard for its alignment and angles. Jesus is the cornerstone on which the whole church rests. The foundation of the church included the doctrine, the teachings and instructions, of the New Testament apostles and prophets. God revealed His great truths to these early church leaders and preserved them in the New Testament Scriptures.

Lord Jesus, my faith rests solely on You and Your Word. Help me to build my life on this foundation and to live according to Your Word, the Bible.
