Friction and Derision
Ephesians 2:11

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands” Ephesians 2:11 NASB

To a Jew in the first century all other people were Gentiles. The friction and enmity between Jews and Gentiles was enormous. To some Jews a Gentile was nothing more than a wild dog that ravaged the streets. Being circumcised in the flesh, the Jews were overtly proud to be “God’s chosen people.” Gentiles were not privileged or worthy to have God’s mark on them. Yet Christ broke down these barrier walls and established peace between Jew and Gentile believers.

Lord Jesus, though formerly I was unworthy because of my sin, because of Your grace I have peace with God and others. Help me to share that peace with all people.
