His Gift and His Wisdom
Ephesians 1:8

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“. . . according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.” Ephesians 1:7c-8 HCSB

There are at least two major ways to interpret wisdom and insight in this passage. First, when God redeemed and forgave us through lavishly giving us His grace (verses 7-8), He also lavishly gave us wisdom and understanding. With this wisdom and understanding, we can know the mystery of His will (verse 9). Second, in His wisdom and insight God has graciously provided our redemption and forgiveness through Christ. In His wisdom and insight God made known to us the mystery of His will.

Lord Jesus, I marvel at Your wisdom, especially in how You redeemed and forgave me. Teach me to be attuned to and guided by Your wisdom and insight.
