From Slaves to the Redeemed
Ephesians 1:7a

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” Ephesians 1:7 NASB

Without Him, all people are slaves to sin. As slaves our lives are ruled, dominated, and controlled by our sinful nature. However, the person who is in Christ has been set free from this slavery to sin. Through His shed blood on the cross, Jesus has paid the ransom for those in slavery to sin and has granted these now former slaves their freedom. This is redemption! The believer, who was once controlled by sin, is redeemed by the blood of Jesus and set free from sin to live righteously.

Lord Jesus, while I was once a slave to sin, now I am free to live a holy and righteous life that honors You. I’ll shout Your praises for I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!
