Holy and Blameless
Ephesians 1:4b

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“For He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love” Ephesians 1:4 HCSB

The purpose of God’s choosing us is so that, as we stand before His throne, we will be holy and blameless in Christ. To be blameless is to be like an unblemished sacrifice, pure and unspotted by sin. While sinless perfection is not possible on this earth, the believer is to daily pursue holiness through the ongoing process of sanctification, setting aside sin and becoming more Christlike. Yet our holiness and blamelessness before God is not our doing, or by our own efforts, but is because we are in Christ.

Lord Jesus, You are the spotless, holy, sacrificial Lamb. I give You praise for I am made holy and blameless not by my actions but solely in Christ.
