Holy and Faithful
Ephesians 1:1b
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 1:1 NASB
Three things should be noted about the recipients of Paul’s letter. First, the recipients were saints, not because of their actions, but because they were set apart by God and for God. By trusting in Jesus as their Savior, these believers had experienced God’s forgiveness and had become righteous and holy in Christ. Second, they resided in the city or the region of Ephesus, an important area in Asia Minor. Third, they had placed their faith in Christ Jesus and remained faithfully committed and obedient to Him.
Lord Jesus, I am a sinner saved by Your grace and made holy and righteous in Christ. I desire to be faithful to You and to obediently follow Your Word.
