Overwhelming Power
Ephesians 1:19b
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of his strength.” Ephesians 1:19 CSB
Paul uses four different words for power in this verse to amplify the intensity of God’s immeasurable great power. “Power” is potential dynamic power that declares God’s ability to achieve whatever He wills. “Working” is the operational active energy that performs actions. “Mighty” is the overcoming resistance power that prevails over any obstacle. “Strength” is the inherent power of God’s nature that speaks of His superiority and sovereignty over all the universe.
Lord Jesus, I am overwhelmed at Your incredible and immeasurable power. I trust in Your power to save me from sin, to guide me each day, and to provide everlasting life.
