Riches, Glory, and Inheritance
Ephesians 1:18c
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” Ephesians 1:18 NASB
This great inheritance can be interpreted two ways. First, God gives to believers His great and glorious inheritance in Christ. They are redeemed, forgiven of sin, and have life in Christ, and they will ultimately inherit eternal life in heaven. Second, God will inherit the believers as His possession. God sees His children, the saints redeemed in Christ, as the riches and glory that He inherits, as the glorious wealth that is His possession. Since God gives and receives an inheritance, both interpretations are correct.
Lord Jesus, what value You place upon believers. I desire to know and live in the understanding of Your great inheritance.
