The Hope of His Calling
Ephesians 1:18b

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” Ephesians 1:18 NASB

It is God who has called us to be His children, His chosen people. This calling begins with conversion when we are ransomed and redeemed by the blood of Jesus. This calling continues as we walk each day in His ways, growing closer to Him, following Him in obedience, doing what He commands. This calling culminates with Heaven, being in the presence of His great glory for all of eternity. This calling is our hope, our eternal assurance. Paul prayed that the Ephesians would know this absolute certainty of hope.

Lord Jesus, guide me to know this hope of Your calling. I give thanks for Your saving grace and for Your holy calling.
