To Praise His Glory
Ephesians 1:12

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:12 NASB

Paul concluded this middle section of this great doxology, verses 7-12, in praise to God’s glory. The Jews had yearned and hoped for the coming of the Christ, and the first believers in Jesus were Jews. As Paul described later in the letter, God has reconciled both Jews and Gentiles into one body of believers in Christ. Overwhelmed by thoughts of Christ who redeems, forgives, administers, and provides an inheritance for those who believe in Him through His marvelous grace, Paul erupted in exuberant praise to the glory of God the Son.

Lord Jesus, as I think of what You have done, I too burst out in praise to Your glory. How amazing is Your grace that saved a wretch like me!
