“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you will obey the LORD your God.” Deuteronomy 28:2 NASB

God blesses His children in many ways, including the relationships with family and friends and physical possessions and prosperity. However, His greatest blessings are spiritual, including the best gift of all, the salvation of our souls. The word “blessings” also describes an inner joy and satisfaction that is not dependent upon the circumstances one faces, but comes from a deep and abiding personal relationship with God. Deuteronomy states that the blessings of God are directly related to one’s obedience to God’s commands. If the children of Israel were obedient, God would pour out His blessings upon them.

Lord Jesus, during this Thanksgiving season I wish to express my gratitude for Your bountiful blessings. I desire to receive Your blessings by obedience to Your Word.
