“Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them.” Colossians 3:19 NASB

The word translated love in this verse means a self-giving, self-sacrificing love. It is a love that seeks the very best for the one who is loved. God demonstrated this type of love for people by sending Jesus to die on the cross, taking our punishment and providing our salvation. A husband demonstrates this love by giving of himself to his wife. Instead of exhibiting bitterness or harshness, he is kind and tender, seeking the best for her.

Lord Jesus, help me to be a kind and compassionate husband. Help me to demonstrate Your love in my marriage and in my life.
