“It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans.” 3 John 7 NIV

Gaius had shown hospitality to traveling preachers and missionaries. These teachers were traveling for the sake of the Name. They were representing the Name of Jesus serving as ambassadors for Jesus. Their travels were motivated by and committed to the service and ministry of Jesus Christ. They proclaimed the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ the Lord. Even though they taught and ministered to all people, they accepted no support from nonbelievers, pagans. Other Christians were to help these ministers by providing for all their needs.

Lord Jesus, bless those who are speaking and ministering in Your Name today by giving them the support they need. Help them to boldly proclaim Your saving grace.
