“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

Judgment day has not come because God is giving people the opportunity to repent of their sins and to place their faith and trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. God is patiently waiting. He desires that people not perish but have eternal life. God, in His love and mercy, offers salvation to all who repent. Yet God’s holiness and justice demands wrath and punishment for all who refuse and reject Him. Peter declares that while God is longsuffering, Jesus will come again to judge the unrighteous.

Lord Jesus, help me to share with others their need to repent and turn to You for salvation. Even as I speak of judgment, let Your love and grace shine through me.
