“First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.” 2 Peter 3:3 NIV

Many people react to the gospel and to the Christian faith by scoffing and mocking. They show their disdain for Jesus and Biblical truths by belittling and treating them flippantly with no respect. They mock because they would rather live in sin, indulging in whatever selfish and evil deeds they desire. Because these scoffers and false teachers showed contempt for God’s Word, the teachings of the faith, and for believers, Peter reminded the believers to remember what the Word says and to stand firm in the faith.

Lord Jesus, I believe in You and in Your Word. Even when someone mocks me, help me to faithfully obey the commands and truths found in the Bible.
